everGREEN - Green Award Winner

SANTA BARBARA, CA — everGREEN landscape architects, (aka NWA - Landscape Architecture & Construction) has recieved the 2006 Green Award, which recognizes Santa Barbara County businesses and organizations for outstanding environmental efforts. This year marks the 13th annual Green Awards program. Over 60 outstanding companies from throughout Santa Barbara County have been honored over the past thirteen years.

The Green Award recognizes companies and organizations for voluntary activities, above and beyond their primary missions that result in cleaner air or water, less waste, less traffic, conservation of energy and natural resources, or reduced use of hazardous materials. The awards are an annual highlight of Pollution Prevention Week, celebrated nationally during the week of September 18 - 24.

everGREEN landscape architects incorporates environmental practices in all aspects of its business—including the use of biodiesel-powered vehicles by the principals, and a demonstration garden featuring shallow basins for ground water recharge, gray water drip irrigation, organic gardening practices, recycled concrete, permeable surfaces, drought-tolerant plants, and an alternative lawn.

CEO warns of energy crisis

The president and chief executive officer of one of the nation's largest energy companies warned that the United States is heading toward "an energy train wreck" unless it immediately begins work on projects that will take years to finance and complete.

Thomas Farrell, president and chief executive officer of Dominion, issued the warning Thursday to business leaders attending the 2006 Business Summit at The Greenbrier.

Amer. Lung Assoc. looks to biodiesel

everGREEN landscape architects in Santa Barbara, CA (www.everGREEN-sb.com) has been using biodiesel now for 20 months, making a difference in their ongoing pursuit of new and better ways of doing things.

And in the news, health leaders can receive a comprehensive update on biodiesel and other renewable fuels through a renewable transportation fuel and air quality event this month. The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) and American Lung Associations of Washington, D.C., the Upper Midwest and the Southwest will host their first ever Air Quality Forum on September 8 in Washington, D.C.

This unique invitation-only event will allow health/environment leaders - including representatives of lung associations, faith-based groups and school health organizations - to have a scientific examination of air quality and the impact of alternative transportation fuels, like biodiesel. Because these top officials who will be attending are from across the nation, the knowledge gained from this conference will be far reaching.
